DAY 1 Flight to Istanbul
Arrival at Istanbul Atatürk Airport. Meet by PAKERO TRAVEL representative and transfer to the hotel. Welcome meeting. Dinner at the hotel at Taksim Square, the center of new town. (D)
DAY 2 Full Day Istanbul City Tour
Drive to “Sultan Ahmet Center”, the heart of the “Old City” from where the Byzantine and Ottoman Empires were ruled. Start to walking day tour in Hippodrome, the center of sportive (chariot races, athletics) events and political activities of the city in Roman and Byzantium periods. See the Obelisk of Theodosius, Serpentine Column and German Fountain of Wilhelm II. Next we enter the Turkish Islamic Arts Museum, which is located in the 16th century Palace of Ibrahim Pasha. Displays include the oldest handicrafts, textile works, tiles, manuscripts, carved Koran case and calligraphy. Walk to Blue Mosque, facing St. Sophia, famous with its blue Iznik tiles and unique with 6 minarets, built in the name of Sultan Ahmet 1609-1616. Have a short walk to Cistern Basilica, built by Emperor Justinian in 6th century AD as a part of elaborate water system of the city. One of the largest underground cistern having a forest of columns of total 336. Today the cistern is a distinctive attraction of Istanbul.
Visit St. Sophia, one of the greatest marvels of architecture, constructed as basilica in the 6th century AD by Emperor Justinian. Lunch in a local restaurant. Walk to Topkapi Palace, beautifully decorated gardens and impressive building complex used to be imperial residence of Ottoman Sultans exhibiting imperial treasury, Chinese porcelain, weapons, calligraphy, holy relics section today. DAY 3 Full Day Istanbul City Tour
Drive around the old city walls, the great defense system, still standing after the course of centuries.
Start your tour from Spice Bazaar (Egyptian Bazaar), mystical smells of different aromas of various spices. Shops selling fruits, vegetables, flowers, fish etc. Take a short drive to Grand Bazaar the authentic experience in a competitive souk selling souvenirs, jewelry, carpets, tiles etc. in over 3000 shops. Have lunch in a local restaurant. Drive to Chora Museum, a small church that holds the most beautiful mosaic pavements on its walls dating back to 1324, depicting life cycle of Mary and Jesus. End up the day on a relaxing Bosphorus Cruise, through the waterway separating the two continents, Asia and Europe, with a possibility to take photographs of marble palaces, ancient wooden villas of Ottoman architecture besides modern residential and luxurious apartments. DAY 4 Full Day Istanbul City Tour
Today we will discover the Asian part of Istanbul. Our day will begin with the panoramic drive on the Bosporus Bridge that connects Asia to Europe, we will visit Beylerbeyi Palace, built between 1861 and 1865 as a summer residence and pleasure palace to entertain dignitaries and royalty. Then we will drive Kadıkoy a lovely district with a busy traffic and beautiful market places, have lunch on your own in your free time to add more to your Istanbul experience. Cross Bosphorus by a public ferry meet with the tour bus and drive to Suleyman the Magnificent Mosque, built 1550-57 by Sinan, the master architect of Ottoman Empire. The best sample of Ottoman classical period. Tonight you can join to an optional folkloric and belly dancer show in a first class restaurant serving dinner. (B)
DAY 5 Flight Back to Home
Take the last drive to the airport to take the flight to back home.
